When my wife and I are shopping, she often reminds me of things, kind of like a rehearsal for getting old. For instance, as I was getting out of the car at the store yesterday, she asked me if I had my keys, phone and wallet. I was using my phone at the time to respond to some business texts, and replied that I had everything. Then I went to walk beside her on the sidewalk into the store.
That's when she said, "You know there's a reason she asks you that, right?"
The "she" that said that was the lady I was walking with, but she was not my wife. My wife was still getting out of the car.
Some people should not multitask. I am one of them.
