The boys sure were excited about the pumpkins that they acquired on the field trip during the Home Missions Conference.
"Papa, when we get home, may we please put my pumpkin in the oven and cook it until it becomes a pumpkin pie?"
If only it were that easy!
It started out with the boys singing, "Oh do you know the muffin man" in the back seat as we were waiting for Krysta to come out of the store. Then they graduated to "the Popsicle man." It was some time later, when I heard them sing, "Oh do you know the black man" that I saw the direct corelation to the people walking past our van. Yep, the "ugly man," the "mean man," the "painted man," and the "black man" were all real people passing by. Time to roll up the window!
Enoch: "I love pears!"
Krysta: "Do you love pears or Momma more?"
Enoch: "Pears"
Ezra (trying to outdo his older brother): "Well I love everyone! Everyone in the whole city!"
Krysta: "Do you love everyone more than food?"
Ezra: (very solemnly): "No"
"Ezra, if you drown, you'll be in BIG trouble!" said Enoch. Ezra was crossing the "river" that we made washing down the front porch.
"Momma, you're old!" said Ezra.
"I know it."
Ezra: "What's after 4?" (he's about to turn 4)
"5"
Ezra: "Are you even older than 5?!?"
The other day I made the mistake of wearing a red polo and black pants into Target. Before long I had helped an old lady find the batteries and explained to another shopper that I had no idea when they would stock more raspberry gummies. And then when I asked a sales associate where the diapers and baby wipes were, he muttered something like, "This must be your first day at work." Too bad it wasn't Pay Day.
"Papa, I got teached in a TENT today!" said Ezra, excited about having Sunday School in a tent today, because this week is Vacation Bible Revival at Bible Baptist Church, starting tomorrow, and the church is all decorated for the camping theme.
It was an adventure of a week. The highlight of the week was going to Cape Flattery, the most northwestern point in the contiguous United States, and somewhere that I've always wanted to go. And no, I didn't see Ma and PA Kettle, though I think I might have seen Guoduck and Crowbar. I also got to see a bear and some other animals in the wild, accidentally explore a rainforest on foot, and visit Friday Harbor on San Juan Island (another place that I've always wanted to go).
"Papa and Mama, I'm goin' hunting!" Enoch said, showing us his 'gun' made from a stick he found. "What are you hunting, wabbits?" "Nope, I'm hunting... Donkeys!"
We took a drive and a hike today and took a picture of the mountain. God blessed us with a beautiful day!
Overheard from my kids 'playing:' (Older brother shouting at younger brother): "The Bible says 'Share!' So share with me NOW!"
(Younger brother calmly responding): "I can't share with you if you aren't being a good boy. Now if you want to play nicely, I would be happy to share my car with you."
Today I took down the Christmas decorations....
